Prescription. Bread, Carrot, Squash and Turnip. Healthy cuisine.

When one speaks of diet, usually do not think of bread. What if we make a healthy bread? Well, I bring you a recipe of a bread that not only does it taste amazing but it also helps them to eat well and eat healthy. On the menu today we serve Bread, Carrot, Squash and Turnip.

For this recipe we’re going to need. (Don’t panic. To make this Bread, Carrot, squash and Turnip is very easy).

  • 1 1/2 cup of wheat flour.
  • 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cdtas. of sodium bicarbonate
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. of ground cloves
  • A grated carrot
  • 1 turnip, medium grated
  • A zucchini, grated
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of pumpkin puree. (You can buy the cans at almost any supermarket)
  • 3 tbsp. of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 dash of vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp. of the pumpkin seed.

Yes… because it sounds like a very long listing of ingredients and one would think that a recipe with so much active ingredient can be a nightmare. But no, assured that this recipe has three steps. And the first step is to preheat the oven to 190ºC (375ºF if so they have their ovens) and grease two muffin bread box with olive oil. Then, we need two bowls for mixing. In the first, put flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, carrot, turnip and pumpkin. Mix well. In another bowl beat the eggs, applesauce, olive oil, and vanilla. Add this to the dry mixture and combine well.

Divide the mixture into the two pans and espolvoreen with the pumpkin seeds. Bake for 35 minutes or until they are ready. You know… the trick of the stick. Let cool on rack and eat. To eat with gusto.
