The cake rolled giraffe Nutella which was unanimously !
This weekend, I have not stopped cooking. It seems that I cook more since my periostitis prevents me to go for a run. This is my side overactive : it is a bit quiet at work, I can no longer run so I compensate by doing other things in the kitchen that I was admittedly a little neglected in recent times.
This weekend, I was also motivated to test my new toy : the foil in a silicone rimmed Tupperware. So excited that the recipe tested Saturday has been remade again on Sunday, what happens when even rarely in such an interval. To test this new product, I set my sights on the famous cake rolled “giraffe” that I saw move and iron a bit everywhere.
But first let’s talk about this new product. It is, in fact, a sheet of silicone 33.5 x 31.5 cm with a rim of 1.1 cm in height all around, convenient to cook the pasta a little liquid without risk of spillage. This sheet also has various marks on the surface to develop more easily and more regularly, macarons, éclairs, choux, etc, It costs 33.50 euros and like all the products Tupperware, you can purchase it from a Moderator Tupperware. If you do not know, you can contact mine (Karen) of my hand, it’s great !
So to test this sheet to edges of the silicone, I started to work in a cake rolled “Giraffe”. The famous marking giraffe 1 was a little messed up because I did not applied but the next day was much prettier. Now that I have the technique and the recipe is foolproof, I think sincerely and confidently compete with the japanese and their incredible achievements, or throw myself into the cakes rolled artistic.
To make this cake rolled, you need to :
- 4 egg yolks
- 150 ml sugar (± 150 g)
- 100 g of flour
- 5 egg whites
- 15 ml cocoa powder, unsweetened (1 tablespoon)
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Beat the egg yolks and the sugar until the mixture whitens and double chur triple in volume. Add the flour and mix to obtain a homogeneous preparation.
Go up the egg whites and then gently fold in 2 times in the 1st preparation.
Put about 30 ml of this preparation in a pocket socket and draw features (such as the patterns of a giraffe) on the sheet edges disposed on a grid and bake in the oven for 2 minutes of cooking.
Add the cocoa powder into the remaining batter and then once the 2 minutes have passed, coat the sheet edges with the preparation of chocolate in the evening and all going well in the corners of the sheet.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes of cooking.
Unmould délivatement the cake on a damp cloth and then return it on itself (for the drawings to be to the outside) and roll it in the baking sheet and let cool. Once the cake is cold, spread Nutella over the entire surface, and roll it in on itself. Cut the edges to have a cake net and used immediately.
The cake was super soft and really had nothing to do with the cakes that are rolled as usual. In short, a recipe to keep and do again !
